Important Reminders & Tips for Your Cruise

2 weeks; 17 days; 408 hours. This is the amount of time that separates you from the cool and calming breeze of the Mediterranean sea. As the excitement grows, we thought that it would be useful to provide you with a Mediterranean travel guide 101 for your journey.

For those of you who might have never been on a cruise before, allow us to share some tips:

***Additional Information:***

  • The AzAmazing Evening will be held on October 24th, 2024.

    • There will be two showtimes with enough room for everyone. You can reserve once onboard.

    • We recommend pre-registering for this event in the same way as you would for a shore excursion.

  • The White Night does not have a set date; it will depend on the temperature as it will be held outside around the pool.

    • Table reservations will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Clothes

  • Due to the ocean breeze, you might get chilly at times. We recommend you bring a few warmer options such as pants, long sleeves, and even sweaters for the colder days/nights.

  • Don’t forget good walking shoes for your excursions and sandals for the beach or the pool on the ship.

  • As mentioned in a communication from the Azamara Cruise team, tank tops, distressed or ripped jeans, bathing suits and baseball caps will not be allowed in the dining room or specialty restaurants.

  • There will be 2 special evenings aboard the cruise ship: Azamazing Night and All-White Party.

    • Azamazing night: An evening to dress to impress; Although not mandatory, you may want to plan a nice formal outfit for this classy night aboard the ship. If you want to keep it casual, you are also free to do so.

    • White Night party: If you have never been to an all-white party, there is only one rule; Wear all white.

Safety

Here are some general safety tips when leaving the cruise ship.

  • Although it is generally very safe, tourists should be on the lookout. Pick-pocketing is common in major tourist areas, especially in Rome and Barcelona.

    • Be cautious when using debit or credit cards & be vigilant when they are being handled by others.

    • Use ATMs located in well-lit public areas or inside a bank & keep a close eye for any unauthorized transactions on your account statements

    • Be careful when taking pictures, pulling out your wallet to pay, your passport, and having loose and/or expensive jewelry on your person in major cities.

We recommend using the fanny pack offered to you as a gift to keep your personal belongings close and secure to your person.

  • We also recommend only carrying the essentials with you (cellphone, cash, 1 credit card and 1 piece of ID); You may want to leave the rest of your wallet aboard the ship.

You can use the cellphone card holder you received as a gift to keep your belongings all in one place.

  • If you decide to explore the wonders of each port town, we strongly recommend having a cell phone with you in case of an emergency.

Health

  • When traveling abroad, we strongly recommend getting travelers insurance, as your Medicare card will not be recognized outside of Canada.

  • If you take any medication or have a medical condition, make sure you are buddied up during activities with someone aware of these issues and can help if needed.

  • There will be a medical clinic on board for any emergencies.

NOTE: There are additional fees related to clinic visits.

  • Most tourist destinations are very accommodating of most allergens. If you have food-related allergies or intolerances, we suggest you write them down in Spanish, Italian, French, and English on a card that you should carry with you at all times.

  • Make sure to stay well hydrated! Use the refillable bottle in your gift box. It fits nicely in the sling bag, or can be clipped on the strap.

Additional tips & tricks

  • All port destinations on this cruise use EUROS. In case of emergency, it is recommended to have some cash handy. Most restaurants, shops, and vendors accept credit cards.

  • Wifi will be available, however it is not included in the price of the cruise. Those who want to have access to the network will have to purchase a plan once on board.

  • Gravol, Tylenol, digestive enzymes, motion sickness patches, and mint gum are all useful to have when on a cruise ship to fight off any potential motion sickness. The Onward Shop is there just in case you forget.

  • Travel adaptors; Because not every country uses the same power outlets as we do in North America. We have included one in your gift box to make sure you can charge your electronics.

  • If you’d like to treat yourself to some relaxation while traveling, don’t forget to book your spa day early.

  • The ship features two specialty restaurants, Prime C and Aqualina ($49.95 per person). To ensure a table, it’s best to make a reservation early, especially if the cruise is full. This is an exclusion, therefore NOT included in the price of the trip.

  • You don’t need to pay extra to have good food on the ship. There are many different dining options ranging from haute-cuisine to good ol’ comfort food, including room service for those who want to enjoy a meal in peace, and quiet.

  • On port days, make sure to return to the ship an hour before the scheduled departure if you go exploring on your own. Ships normally don’t wait for late passengers.

  • Sunscreen… ☀️=🦞

  • Every night, you will receive a logbook highlighting practical tips and information pertaining to:

  • Life on board

  • Port destination and requirements

  • Landing and boarding the ship

  • Detailed schedules for shows, restaurants and boutiques

We know that some of you are expert travelers and you’re already packed and ready, but for those who may not be, we hope these details will help you fully enjoy what will be the trip of a lifetime!

Bon voyage!
